BHU VC finally goes on leave, before his replacement is chosen

Banaras Hindu University’s (BHU) controversial vice-chancellor Girish Chandra Tripathi, the man who not only handled the women’s molestation agitation poorly but also had the gall to insult women in public with an uncouth remark like “don’t talk about sexual harassment, you put your modesty in market,” has finally gone on leave.

The Union HRD ministry has already moved in for a search of a new VC, with an advertisement uploaded at the university’s website seeking applications for the V-C’s post. This will take a month, but the presence of the foul-mouthed man within the campus was being seen as an affront. The ministry had put it bluntly that it was the VC’s call whether he will proceed on leave. Every government and
non-government organisation has been shamed by this man’s obscene comments and attitude.

Tripathi went on leave on Monday (October 2), citing personal reasons, say reports. This would be good riddance to bad influence, two months before his retirement is due.
