The Bombay High court today had addition of two more judges. Two judicial officers were administered oath as judges of the Bombay High Court . With the joining of these more working hand
has increased the strength of High court judges in Bombay to 57.
The two Judicial officers who were given this position were:
1.Urmila Sachin Joshi-Phalke
2.Bharat Pandurang Deshpande.
The names of these two judicial officers was recommended by the Supreme Court for elevation to High Court in September 2021.
For some reason ,the Central government did not consider the names and had returned their files,the Collegium however reiterated its recommendation on February 1 this year.
The Central government finally notified their appointment on June 3.
The strength of the Bombay High court is 95, whereas even after the joining of these two judicial officers the vacancies still range on higher side of 35 judges.
