The Delhi High Court has today allowed early hearing of a plea seeking stay over the construction work started for the Central Vista
Redevelopment project after a mentioning made by Senior Advocate Sidharth Luthra.
A divisional bench of the Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh has kept the matter for hearing on May 11, Tomorrow considering the urgency in the matter.
The petition was filed in the Delhi High Court by petitioners Anya Malhotra and Sohail Hashmi through Advocates Gautam Khazanchi and Pradyuman Kaistha seeks interim relief of halt on work of Central Vista Project (CVP) in light of Covid-19.
The mentioning has been made before the bench after the direction of the Supreme Court stating, “We request Mr Luthra, either himself or on behalf of the counsel of petitioner to make a request before the HC Chief Justice on Monday, to take up the matter as earliest as possible. The HC shall fasten the date for early hearing looking at the urgency of the matter.”
Luthra appearing before the Delhi HC submitted, “Your lordship was pleased to keep it on 17th May. An SLP was filed, my request is that there is an emergency, a health emergency.”

Earlier, The Delhi HC bench had refused to issue notice in the plea seeking stay/suspension on all construction activity on the project amid the Covid pandemic while stating the Court wanted to study the Supreme Court judgment and list the matter for further hearing on May 17.
The bench will be hearing the matter tomorrow i.e. May 11.
