President Kovind approves elevation of 10 additional judges to Karnataka High Court, 2 to Kerala HC

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended that the aforementioned additional judges be made permanent judges of the respective high courts.

President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the elevation of  10 additional judges from the Karnataka High Court and two from the Kerala High Court as judges of the respective High Courts.

In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution, the President confirmed the appointment of Justices Shivashankar Amarannavar, Makkimane Ganeshaiah Uma, Vedavyasachar Srishananda, Hanchate Sanjeevkumar, Padmaraj Nemachandra Desai, and  Panjigadde Krishna Bhat, Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court as the Judges of the Karnataka High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.

Justices Maralur Indrakumar Arun, Engalaguppe Seetharamaiah Indiresh, Ravi Venkappa Hosmani and  Savanur Vishwajith Shetty, Additional Judges of Karnataka High Court as the Judges of the Karnataka High Court.

Justices Indrakumar Arun, Indiresh and Hosmani were appointed as additional judges in January 2020. Justice Shetty was appointed in April 2020. The other six judges, namely Justices Amarannavar, Uma, Srishananda, Sanjeevkumar, Desai, and Bhat were appointed as additional judges in May 2020.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended that the aforementioned additional judges be made permanent judges of the respective high courts.

The Centre notified the appointment of Justices Mudalikulam Raman Anitha and Karunakaran Nair Haripal, who were appointed as  additional judges of Kerala High Court in March and May, 2020, as the Judges of the Kerala High Court
