Supreme Court to hear plea seeking directions to Centre, states to form a committee to monitor medical facilities for Covid-19 patients

The bench of Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Justice L. Nageswara Rao and Justice S. Ravindra Bhat will hear the plea.

The Supreme Court will hear a petition on Monday, seeking direction to both the Central Government and the state governments to formulate a high-powered Committee in every state, which shall monitor the channelised and administered distribution policy of medical facilities to Covid-19 patients like the Oxygen Supply, proper allocation of beds in hospitals, proper supply of Ramdesivir drug, and supply of Coronavirus vaccines.

The bench of Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Justice L. Nageswara Rao and Justice S. Ravindra Bhat will hear the plea. (Save Them India Foundation vs Union of India)

The plea also sought, inter-alia, following prayer

ii. Direction to centre to Set up an Three member Enquiry Commission under the Chairmanship of the Retired Justice of Honorable Supreme court of India and two retired judges of the High court as its members which enquire into the Incident of Nashik oxygen leaking case took place at civic Hospital Zakir Hussain Municipality Hospital at Nashik Maharashtra resulting into the deaths of 24 Patients.

iii. Direction to the State of Maharashtra to Register the First Information Report Under Sections 304 PART B and 304A in Nashik Oxygen Leaking case happened on 21-4-2021 killing 24 persons. iv. Direct the Respondents/States To set up a highly technical committee for the monitoring of the policies and distributions pertaining to the medical equipment supply.
