As Delhi Police detains protesters from several parts of the national capital amid continuing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, a team of around 30 lawyers has been set up under the supervision of senior advocate Prashant Bhushan to render on the spot assistance to the citizens and protesters facing any legal issue.
At least 200 people have been detained at Surajmal Park and 60 people at Mandir Marg. Lawyers like Nilesh Jain (9503979599) and Mishika (9810187140) who are the main coordinator is trying to help the detainees by connecting them to the nearby lawyers.
Defying all the restrictions and prohibitory orders by the government, people from different sections took to roads across the country on the call of the Left parties to protest against the controversial Citizenship law (CAA). Moreover, the incidents of brick-batting and arson were also reported from different parts of the state including Lucknow, Sambhal and Amroha districts.
Historian Ramchandra Guha, Left leaders including Left leaders D Raja, Sitaram Yechury, Nilotpal Basu, Brinda Karat and others were detained at Mandi House in Delhi for defying prohibitory orders imposed by the police.
In an unprecedented move, telecom giants suspended mobile internet services in many parts of Delhi on the directions of Delhi Police Special Cell due to the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) across the national capital and other cities.
