The Supreme Court Collegium on thursday recommended transfer of some judges of the High Court
In a significant development,the seven judges who have been recommended for transfer in Collegium meeting are:
1.Justice V. M. Velumani (transferred from Madras high court to Calcutta High court)
2.Justice Battu Devanand (transferred from Andhra Pradesh High Court to Madras High Court
3. Justice D. Ramesh (transferred from Andhra Pradesh to Allahabad High Court)
4.Justice Lalitha Kanneganti (transferred from Telangana High Court to Karnataka High Court
5.Justice D. Nagarjun (transferred from Telangana High Court to Madras High Court.
6.Justice T. Raja (transferred from Madras High Court to Rajasthan High Court)
7.Justice A. Abhishek Reddy (transferred from Telangana High Court to Patna High Court)
However, the interesting part is that the name of Justice Nikhil S. Kariel of the Gujarat High Court, whose proposed transfer became a big issue by the GHCAA was not a part of the transfer.fe
The name of Justice A. Abhishek Reddy does appear in this list, who was transferred to the Patna High Court.
It is important to note that Telangana High Court Bar Association has been protesting against the proposal of the Supreme Court collegium to transfer it.
The list also contains the name of Justice T. Raja who was transferred to the Rajasthan High Court from Madras High Court which was gravely opposed by the Madras High Court Advocates Association.
