Coronavirus: SC allows its Registry Off Duty in batches

The Supreme Court has taken another step towards taking precaution against the growing pandemic of Coronavirus by asking the Registry to de-congest its rooms and to allow 3 days off duty to the staff.

The three days Off Duty which is to be granted will be given in two batches, the first batch will be granted off duty from 19th March to 21st March and the second batch will be from 23rd March to 25th  March and the said three days off duty will be adjusted during the two weeks Summer Vacation. If in any case Off Duty in summer vacation is not admissible they will be allowed 3 days off duty of the kind which is due to them.

The apex court has asked the Branch Officers/Controlling Officers to draw two batches of staff while ensuring that 50% of the staff is available on duty so that there is no dislocation of work. The staff is not allowed to leave the headquarters without a prior written permission and the three days off duty shall be registered through the Registrar.

The Supreme Court had earlier taken a decision of restricted functioning of the Court which has been implemented since the 16th March where the court is taking matters which are urgent in nature. The apex court had also closed all its cafeterias including the Departmental Canteens due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
