New Delhi (IL News Service): A Delhi High court today passed direction for the judicial remand of Umar Khalid till October 22 in connection with allegations against him for instigating the northeast Delhi riots.
Umar Khalid was presented before Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat after completing his 10-day police remand as directed earlier.
The Delhi Police has stated that Umar had instigated the Muslim groups to disturb the public peace during the visit of US President Donald Trump. The Delhi Police submitted that this was done “So that propaganda may be flashed at an international forum that the Muslim minority community in India are being tortured.”

Advocate Trideep Pais, appearing for Khalid, submitted that Khalid had always been cooperating and was always present before the authority for interrogation, hence is not on flight risk and the Delhi Police’s case is empty rhetoric.
