Delhi High Court today issued notice to Delhi government for submitting its response with entire original record, reports from all departments regarding conduct of petitioner, which were considered by the Sentence Review Board (SRB) for considering release of petitioner.
Acting upon a plea Single Judge Bench of Justice Brijesh Sethi asked Delhi Government to file their response along with the relevant records of Sentence Review Board (SRB).
The plea was filed by Siddharth Vashishatha also known as Manu Sharma through his advocate Mr. Amit Sahni. Sharma was sentenced for life imprisonment in the Jessica Lal Murder Case.
Mr. Sahni argued before the court that Mr. Sharma is being victimised by the state, despite having undergone 23 years of jail and fulfilling all the parameters as per the prevalent policy/order the release of the petitioner has been rejected on four separate occasions in an unfair and unlawful manner. Mr. Sahni also added that Sharma’s NGO “Siddhartha Vashishtha Charitable Trust” has been rewarded with appreciation.
Sharma has a clean record all these years and he has been appreciated by the Lt. Governor of Delhi for his efforts in helping children of Tihar inmates. Sharma has also been appreciated by way of certificates and letters of recommendation by Superintendents, DIGs and DGs on various occasions for his work in the jail factory, horticulture and education division.
