Anticipatory bail was granted to NSUI former state president and two others in protest against Agniveer Scheme by the Delhi High Court today.
The National Student union of India students were a charged with criminal conspiracy for attempt to murder and arson by the police.
The anticipatory bail was granted by the Special Court to three NSUI student leaders including NSUI former State President Akshay Lakra, Gurjot Singh and Arjun Chhaprana in criminal conspiracy for arsoning and attempt to murder for protesting outside the house of BJP President JP Nadda on 21st June.
The accused were represented by Advocate Harpreet Singh Hora and Perdeep Naagar who said that on 4th July the Police issued an order for arrest and has began to arrest protestors who have committed no offence.
The court found out that the so called accused persons are advocates and law students who have no criminal background and we’re only involved in sloganeering.
As the main accused are already on bail in the case , the Court granted anticipatory bail to the three accused persons.
The protestors were taken into custody as they had protested outside Shri Nadda’s house on 21st witj allegedly setting to fire a Khaki half pant raising slogans against the Agniveer Scheme.
The Police had registered case under section 188/146/147/149/278/285/307/436/120B IPC and several accused persons were arrested in the case.
All three had approached Court and were given arrest notice within 5 working days arrest notice by the Court on 28th June 2022 and later, they were served notices of arrest by the Police.
