A vacation bench of the Delhi High Court comprising Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani has issued direction to the Delhi Police wherein the petitioner and his employees have been repeatedly targeted by unknown assailants in and around their place of work in Chandni Chowk.
Tanmaya Mehta, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, submitted that though the petitioner and his employees have been attacked by unknown assailants without any provocation on 14.06.2021 and 19.06.2021, the petitioner suspects that the attacks have been orchestrated by or at the instance of some persons who are inimical to the petitioner.
Mehta further submitted that one of the petitioner’s employees, who has a body and build similar to that of the petitioner, has in fact sustained grievous injuries with a sharp knife-like object on his back and neck, that required the employee to get 45 stitches.
He further submitted that in regard to the attacks, two separate FIRs, one by the petitioner and another by his employee, have been filed in the recent past; but no tangible action appears to have been taken by the concerned police.

Richa Kapoor, a learned ASC (Criminal) appearing on behalf of the respondent on an advance copy, submitted that she will take instructions as to the status of investigation in the subject FIRs. She further stated that while it would not be possible to assign individual officers to protect the petitioner or his employee, she will instruct that necessary steps are taken to sensitize the local police in relation to the petitioner’s threat perception; and will also issue necessary instructions that the local police should respond quickly to any complaint received from the petitioner.
Kapoor further stated that the petitioners will be given the cellphone numbers of the SHO, P.S.: Kotwali and of the concerned beat officer, who the petitioner may approach in any eventuality. The matter will now be taken up before Roster Bench on July 9.
