Delhi High Court praises Delhi govt for post-Covid measures

The Delhi High Court division bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli on Thursday heard a PIL filed by advocate Rakesh Malhotra seeking an increase in the number of Covid-19 tests in Delhi and speeding up results.

During the hearing, Delhi Government counsel Satyakam said they had an expert committee in place and checking post-Covid 19 complications. The Delhi High Court noted that the parties have participated in these proceedings in a non-adversarial manner.

Justice Sanghi said the expert committee will continue to look into the aspect of treatment of post-Covid complications. There is no doubt Delhi government will work in the implementation of these orders to look into the post-corona complications and consistencies so that precious lives are not lost.

The number of daily cases was substantially lower now. Fortunately the vaccine program is rolling out from next week and press reports show large-scale arrangements for the vaccination, the Judge said, adding the plea has served its purpose.

The Court had earlier directed the Delhi government to formulate standard operating procedures (SOPs) to deal with post Covid-19 complications and to ensure facilities are available to test and quarantine travellers from the UK where a new strain of Covid-19 has emerged.
