Delhi HC refuses to pass restraining order on Republic TV

The Delhi High Court’s single judge bench of Justice Manmohan on Friday refused to pass an interim order on Shashi Tharoor’s plea to restrain Editor Arnab Goswami and his channel Republic TV from airing news about Sunanda Pushkar’s death.

Tharoor has filed a civil defamation suit against Goswami and Republic TV for allegedly making defamatory remarks against him while airing news relating to the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar. Tharoor, in his application, also sought a restraining order from the court against the channel from airing related news.

It has been alleged that the channel has been calling the death a “murder” despite no conclusion drawn as yet by the investigators in this regard. It has also been alleged that there have been attempts to link Tharoor to the death.
