The Delhi Police on Friday has filed two chargesheets against 19 accused in connection with alleged murder of two brothers during the communal violence in north-east Delhi in February.
Both the charge sheets were related to the murder of two Muslim Man, Aqil Ahmed and Musharaff, who were real brothers whose dead bodies were recovered from a drain in Johripur in Delhi on Feb 27th 2020. North-east Delhi had witnessed communal riot and clashes between the supporters of CAA on Feb 24th 2020, which had also resulted in at least 53 people dead and 200 injured.
During the riots in Delhi, when massive rioting had taken place in different areas of North-East District, Delhi , three dead bodies of un-identified Muslim men were recovered from the drain in Johripur , and later the same day another dead body of a Muslim person was recovered at some distance away. The FIRs for these cases were registered and the case were transferred to SIT, Crime Branch, Delhi for further investigation.
According to the investigation the deceased Aqil Ahmed, was waylaid by the mob while he was returning to his home at New Mustafabad, was murdered and his body was thrown in the Johripur drain.
The other deceased Musharraf was attacked by the mob in his house in Bhagirathi Vihar, was grabbed and dragged out in the street , bludgeoned to death and his dead body was thrown in the open drain.
The identity of the perpetrators was fixed based on oral evidences and the chat in the Whatsapp group that was formed before the attacks. During investigation, it was found that a WhatsApp group was created on the intervening night of February 25-26 when the rioting was at its peak. According to the police, the group had 125 members including some members who were only sending and receiving chats, while few others who were involved in active rioting. While 9 accused persons have been arrested for Aqil Ahmed’s murder, 10 accused have been arrested for the murder of Musharraf.
