Advocate Nitesh Rana who was Enforcement Directorate’s Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) has resigned from his post on Saturday.
Nitesh Rana in his resignation letter has cited ‘personal reasons for his resignation.He has also added that now on he would focus on his private practice. He added that his office will inform the courts about the same.
As per the source, Rana will be representing a litigant in a high-profile case against the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Nitesh Rana as a prosecutor has represented the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a number of high-profile cases, which include the famous few as against former Union minister P Chidambaram, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s husband Robert Vadra.
It is pertinent to note that the Forbes Magazine has named him in its ‘Legal Powerlist of 2020 and he has also represented the federal agency in the United Kingdom in a money laundering case.
