Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar on Wednesday appeared before the CBI here for the fifth day of interrogation in connection with the Saradha chit-fund scam . Newsagency ANI reported that the interrogation is likely to be completed today.
The city police supremo is accused of withholding some documents related to Saradha and Rose Valley chit fund cases and was being questioned by the CBI since Saturday including a grilling session of nearly ten hours on Tuesday. On February 5, the Supreme Court had directed the police chief to appear before the CBI while making it clear that the agency should in no way take coercive steps against Kumar.The top court’s directive had come against the backdrop of a ‘dharna’ organised by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata banerjee nwho prtested against the CBI’s plans to arrest Kumar.
