A construction company has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court against land mafia and local elements hindering the construction of Ghaziabad Web City.
Taking this matter seriously, the Court has sought information from the state government about what action has been taken on the company’s complaint against the land mafia and anarchists.
The division bench of Justice N.A. Munis and Justice Dinesh Pathak passed this order while hearing a Petition filed by Uppal Chadha Hi-Tech Developer Pvt. Ltd. The petitioner says that the development work on the land acquired for Web City has to be done by the company and GDA.
In the petition, the State Government and other authorities have been asked to issue permission to the petitioner for development work and to cooperate in it.
In 2003, the State Government, with the participation of private developers, formulated a policy to develop high-tech townships in the area adjoining the major cities of the state. Under this policy, the Government of Uttar Pradesh selected the Petitioner Company and acquired about 4,500 acres of land under the name of Web City, Ghaziabad for the development of a Hi-Tech Township in Ghaziabad.
Local anti-social elements continue to be a hindrance in development. Despite the complaint being lodged, no action has been taken against these people till date. Therefore, this petition has been filed. The petition will be heard on January 27.
