The President of the Gujarat High Court Advocates Association (GHCAA) Mr Yatin Oza in a letter addressed to the Chief Justice Vikram Nath has requested to resume physical functioning of the Court.
The Association informed the Chief Justice that the GHCAA had circulated an Agenda which was put to vote, whether the Members of the Bar wish to request for physical functioning of the court or virtual functioning of the court.
“Almost 64% of the Members of the Bar expressed their desire that court should function physically, while 36% expressed their desire for the virtual functioning of the court. The total respondents who participated in the said referendum were around 800 Members of the Bar,” stated the Association.
The GHCAA further brought to the Court’s notice that out of 2400 Advocates practicing in the High Court, around 1800 members wished that the Court may function physically with all the necessary precautions which the Court may prescribe.
Moreover since the State Government has permitted almost all commercial activities including opening of malls and hospitality sector apart from place of worship, the Association has urged the Court to resume physical functioning of Courts as well.
The GHCAA has also stated that Dr. Urman Dhruv, an eminent doctor has suggested several precautions and has opined that the courts can safely be reopened for physical hearing without any danger to any type of infection.
