HC Issues Notice To Centre and Delhi Govt on Tackling Corona virus

The Delhi High Court today issued notice to the Centre and the Delhi government on a plea seeking review of the medical facilities and preparedness of the Government to deal with the Corona virus outbreak.

The notice was issued by a division bench of Justice D. N. Patel and C. Hari Shankar on a petition by Triveni Potekar filed through Advocate Nivedita Sharma.

The petition  mentioned the potential risk of mass infection in small cities and rural areas due to a lack of medical infrastructure. The petition also added that a feeling of fear has gripped the citizens due to lack of information about Corona virus.

The petitioner has thus sought review of the preparation and the steps that are being taken by the Governments. It has also been sought  that directions be given to make available all the relevant details to facilitate easy and unhindered access to the medical facilities for all tests and treatments of COVID-19.

The petition also sought directions for setting up of a monitoring committee under the supervision of experts and for proper and adequate measures to control and combat COVID-19.

The next date of hearing fixed on March 30th.
