The Indian Space Research Organisation reached another milestone when it successfully launched its heaviest rocket yet, the GSLV Mk-III D1 aka ‘Naughty Boy’, carrying a 3,136 kg communication satellite GSAT-19 at 5.20 pm from its Sriharikota base on June 5.

Both, President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minster Narendra Modi tweeted congratulatory messages.

It was not the satellite, but the rocket that was on test. The success put India in an exclusive class of countries which have been able to put satellites into geosynchronous orbits.
