INX Media Case : Six Bureaucrats get interim bail, Peter Mukerjea fails to appear in court

Special CBI judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar on Friday granted interim bail to all six accused bureaucrats in the INX Media case being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation as the CBI  is yet to give its response to the bail applications moved at 11:30 am at the Rouse Avenue Courts Complex on Friday.

The six accused are: Former NITI Aayog CEO Sindhushree Khullar, OSD Pradeep Kumar Baggha, Former FIPB Director Prabodh Saxena, Anoop K Pujari, Ajeet Kumar and Rabindra Prasad. The Court fixed the surety amount at Rs. 2 lakh each.

Court summoned other accused persons in the INX Media case, Peter Mukerjea, Karti Chidambaram and various bureaucrats who were involved in the process of FIPB approval beyond the permissible limit favouring INX Media. Former Union Minister P. Chidambaram was also produced from judicial custody before the judge after the court issued production warrant early morning.

While Karti Chidambaram was present in court, Peter Mukerjea did not show up despite the court’s summon issued to them and several other bureaucrats named in the chargesheet.

Sonia Naidu of Chess Consulting Management, Advantage Strategic and Pradeep Guha, current Director of INX Media have filed exemption application in the matter.

The matter will now be heard on December 17, 2019.
