New Delhi (ILNS): The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has released separatist leader Masarat Alam Bhat from protracted detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA). The order came after the court quashed the detention order against Bhat. The court also observed that under PSA a person can be detained for a maximum period of two years only.
The two-judge bench of Justices Sanjeev Kumar and Rajnesh Oswal directed the authorities to release Masarat Alam from preventive custody forthwith, if he is not required in any other case.
