Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has asked the Bombay High Court to dismiss actor Kangana Ranaut’s petition seeking Rs 2 crore in damages for the demolition of her bungalow in Mumbai. The BMC called Kangana’s plea an “abuse of the process of law.”
The BMC, in its reply, urged the court to dismiss Kangana’s petition and impose a fine on her for filing such a plea instead. On September 9, the BMC demolished part of Kangana’s Pali Hill bungalow, citing some illegal construction. The High Court bench led by Justice S J Kathawalla had stayed the demolition process after the Manikarnika actor had approached the court on the same day.
Kangana amended her plea on Tuesday, asking for a compensation of Rs 2 crore from the civic body.
In a reply filed through lawyer Joel Carlos, the BMC alleged that Kangana falsely stated that the alterations were as per a permission granted earlier by it.
