The High Court of Karnataka has notified that certain category of old matters are proposed to be listed for final hearing via Video-Conferencing, while physical hearing of matters is required to be stopped, in wake of the present situation.
The notification has included the following category of matters which may be listed for final hearing:
- Criminal appeals- Matters where convict who is in jail has undergone actual sentence of seven years or more, can be listed after memo is filed by the concerned advocates. The Bar members representing the accused and convicts in such appeals and are ready to conduct appeals through video conferencing can file memo containing all the particulars, and forward it to the email id of the Registrar. Once the memo is received, the case will be listed for final hearing after intimating office of the Public Prosecutor.
- Writ Income tax appeals- A list of income tax appeals for final hearing has been published on the website, and will be listed for video conferencing from July 8th 2020. The Bar members will be required to give consent for disposal of the cases through video conferencing by submitting a memo regarding the same.
