Madhya Pradesh High Court Extends Its Limited Functioning Till July 13

The High Court of Madhya Pradesh has extended limited functioning of the high court as well as of its subordinate courts, till June 13, 2020. The Court has also issued directions regarding the functioning of Courts to contain the spread of COVID-19

The Court had through its first notification regarding the lockdown on March 24th, 2020 directed suspending and subsequently restricting functioning of High Courts and subordinate courts. The Courts were directed to take up only urgent matters from May 4th and this restricted functioning was supposed to continue till June 7th 2020. The Court has decided to issue directions to avoid any possibility of spreading Corona cases considering that containment zones in the State of Madhya Pradesh have been changing from time to time. 

The functioning of all the court campus that fall in the containment zones will be suspended and only urgent work will be conducted from residence of the Judicial Officers as directed by the District judge through video conferencing till the time the area is declared a non-containment zone. The Judicial officers whose residence falls within the containment zone, they will not attend the court until their residential area is declared a non-containment area. 

The limited functioning of the High Court and subordinate courts has been extended till June 13th,2020, except Subordinate Courts in districts of Indore, Ujjain and Bhopal where only urgent matters will be heard. The High Court’s Bench at Indore will hear urgent cases through video conferencing with minimum required staff till June 13.
