MHA Issues Standard Operating Procedure To Facilitate Movement Of Persons By Train

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday issued Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) to facilitate movement of persons by train.

The following procedure was laid down in the SOP:-

  • Movement of trains shall be permitted by the Rail Ministry in a graded manner in consultation with Health and home Ministry.
  • Train Schedules, protocols for booking, entry and movement of passengers and coach services shall be widely published in Ministry of Railways.
  • Only those passengers with confirmed e-tickets shall be allowed to enter station.
  • There would be compulsory medical screening of all passengers. Only asymptomatic persons would be allowed to board the train.
  • During the travel and at the railway stations, Strict adherence to Health/hygiene protocols and social distancing.
  • All passengers would be provided with hand sanitizer at entry and exit points at station and in coaches. Further, it would be ensured that all passengers wear face covers/ masks at entry and during travel.
  • On arrival at their destination, the travelling passengers would have to adhere to such health protocols as are prescribed by the destination State/ UT.

The Central Government has decided to run special trains on 15 routes from 12th of May apart from the “Shramik Special” trains which are exclusively meant for migrant labourers to return to native place.
