Expressing deep concern over the ongoing plight of medical practioners where they are facing attacks in line of duty, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) N.V. Ramana on Saturday said
“I am extremely saddened to witness rising violence against doctors. Several false cases are being lodged against upright and hardworking doctors. They need a better and more secure working environment,”
The CJI who was attending a book release function in the India – International centre said that active measures to ensure the doctors work at peace without violence while performing their duty is the need of the hour.
The CJI was releasing a comprehensive guide titled ‘Atlas of Breast Elastography and Ultrasound Guided Fine Needle Cytology’ co-authored by Dr. Colonel C.S. Pant and Dr. Vaneeta Kapur.

During the Covid times,doctors stood like a gibraltor stone between disease and vulnerable patients should increase their respect , but on contrary they are brutally attacked and we need to condemn this act.
The Chief Justice who also is also a father to a doctor daughter wondered by are doctors penalized for failure at the part of others at times. He wondered why and how can they be doubted for acts which are beyond their capacity.
CJI said it is a difficult situation.If there are patients, issues like insufficient number of medical professionals, infrastructure, medicines, outdated technologies, and non priority from government to medical sector are issues of immediate concern
CJI while talking about the cancer said that in country like India where a large population of women suffers from problems like breast cancer .He mentioned how women are careless of their health and in order of priority keep themselves at last. He requested that male(husband, brothers, son) should come forward and make them realize the importance of them in lives of everyone around them.
