As asked by the court, the counsel for the petitioners Social Action for Forest & Environment (SAFE) on Thursday (September 14) submitted to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) a detailed report of 150 industries which are producing absolute alcohol and are allegedly polluting the River Ganga.
The case in question is related to the closure and removal of the camps along the River Ganga from Shivpuri to Rishikesh as they were causing environmental pollution in Ganga and across the areas in which they were located.
The case has broadened to include industrial units along the banks as well. On receiving the list from the petitioners, the bench directed the state to file its report.
The next date of hearing is October 3.
