A public interest litigation has been filed in the Jharkhand High Court on Friday seeking a direction from the Court to open the schools, colleges and coaching institutes in the state.
The PIL has been filed by Ram Prakash Tiwari, the Central President of Jharkhand Non-Government School Operators Association, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Petitioner’s advocate Krishna Prajapati said the Jharkhand government has kept all schools, colleges and coaching institutes closed ever since the coronavirus outbreak.
Schools were opened for Class 10th and 12th, but studies for nursery to ninth class students are closed. Millions of students are affected by this. In such a situation, appropriate orders should be given to the government to open schools, the petitioner said.
The petitioner said 65 percent of the poor students do not have smart phones, laptops, computers, internet and other facilities for online studies. Due to the closure of the school, education from nursery to class VIII could not be done.
The Petitioner alleged that students’ future may be hit. Due to non-deposit of fees by parents, there is a problem in depositing salary of teachers, employees, road tax of the bus, bank installment, electricity bill etc.
