PIL filed in Supreme Court against ‘Ashrams’ run by Fake Babas

A PIL has been filed in Supreme Court seeking directions to vacate the Ashrams run by Fake Babas including the Adhyatmika Vishwa Vidyalaya at Rohini in Delhi which is having hundreds of women inmates in unhygienic conditions to avoid spreading of COVID19.

The petitioner in person Dumpala Ramreddy is a father of a girl who has been trapped by Fake baba Mr. Veerendra Dev Dixit founder of ‘Adhyatmika Vishwa Vidyalaya’ at Rohini. Petitioner claimed that there are hundreds/thousands of disciples are residing in 17 Fake Ashrams in the Country and National Capital. He said his daughter is one among such persons trapped by Fake Babas. Several criminal cases have been registered against this baba (Veerendra Dev Dixit) in various states, but, the ashrams are not closed by authorities and also the source of money to such Babas/ Ashrams is not traced by the Government.

In recent past many of such Fake babas have been prosecuted and jailed for violation of law and human rights. Many of these have been convicted for murder and rape of women inmates including girl children. The petition has been preferred on the grounds that the inaction of Government authorities towards fake babas and allowing their illegal ashrams to run in unauthorised buildings and not keeping any verification of source of money is violative of Article 14 & 21 of the Constitution of India.

Apart from that, petitioner also seeks directions for framing of guidelines with regard of setting up of Ashrams/ spiritual centres. In his petition he has prayed that the Central and State Government must be directed to vacate the ashrams run by fake babas including the ‘Adhyatmik Vishwa Vidyalaya’ wherein hundreds of women are living in unhygienic conditions. And, also sought directions to government to close such ashrams which are run by person with a criminal record and also who does not maintain inmates register, and accounts.
