A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court today alleging that the State authorities are willfully declaring Tiger’s identity incorrectly to suppress the offense of poaching.
The petition has been filed by an Animal’s Rights Activist, Ms. Sangeeta Dogra. Ms. Dogra states that her fundamental rights have been violated under article 21, & 51(a) (g) and Article 48A to speak for animals rights and state offense for insulting National Animal. The petition has sought direction for the central government to direct the Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate and register an offense in accordance with the law.
It has been alleged in the petition that
“National Tiger Conservation authorities’ guidelines have been violated and a Tiger-National Symbol and National Asset is insulted in an unconstitutional manner whereby there are NTCA SOP and guidelines permit to dispose of the carcass in a most respectful manner, as any national Symbol is wrapped in National Flag and permission is obtained from Concerned Magistrate court, Authorities at no given time has ever got National Flag issued to give last rites to the National Animals.”
The petition states that
“Every national asset of the Country, i.e Prime Minister, President, Chief Justice’s National awardee’s Arjuna awardee’s and national symbols of the Nation, peacock, Tiger, National Tree-Banyan, National Flower Lotus, State emblems are given a respectful last ride by wrapping them in the National Flag with a 3 bullet salute and no one shall insult these national symbols, nations identity. However, Respondents have insulted National Animal Tiger repeatedly various times.”

Ms. Dogra further mentioned that
“as per carcass disposal guidelines any Tiger is to be disposed appropriately to avoid poaching of Animals, and a Post Mortem, DNA and Histopathology is must and video graph and photography while disposal of the carcass, for the Tiger in the picture, no photographs or videography are made available or either any inquiry was raised in this regards…”
