Plea in Delhi HC against alleged deduction of salaries of pvt school teachers

New Delhi: A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court, challenging the salary deductions being faced by teachers and other staff members of some private schools in the NCT of Delhi amid the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

Mukul Sharma, a law student, has filed the Public Interest Litigation seeking the release of full salary to the teachers and to clear all arrears within two working days.

Sharma submitted: “Every school and institute is charging the necessary tuition fees by the guidelines of the NCT of Delhi, but the educators and teachers are not getting their part of salary. Moreover, schools have zero expenses in this pandemic situation except providing the salary to teachers and staff members.

He also said that this pandemic has financially crippled teachers and staff members of schools in Delhi. He gave a list of the schools allegedly making deduction to salaries of teachers and other staff members:

·       DAV CMC. Chitra Gupta road Delhi- 110055;

·       Kulachi Hansraj model school, phase 3 Ashok vihar, Delhi- 110052;

·       Hamdard public school,tallmabad, Sangam vihar, Delhi- 110080;

·       GD Goenka public school, Bhagwan Mahaveer Road, pocket 8 sector-b, Vasant Kunj Delhi- 110075;

·       Goodley public school, bd block, Shalimar bagh, Delhi- 110088;

·       DAV public school Ashok vihar, ph-iv, near nimii colony, Delhi, 110052.

·       DAV public school, pushpanjali enclave, outer ring road, Pitampura, Delhi- 110034.

·       Ravindra public school -, sd block, Pitampura, near the sports complex, metro pillar- 319, Delhi-110034.

·       St. Thomas girls senior secondary schools, mandir marg, Harijan Basti, gole market, Delhi- 110001.

·       Queen Mary’s school, Northend, plot no. 4—a model town- iii, New Delhi- 110009.

·       DL DAV model school, b n block Shalimar bagh Delhi-110088; and

·       Bhai Joga Singh public school, d-4, Faiz road opposite Hanuman _ Mandir, Ashoka Pahari, subash Nagar, karol bagh, Delhi- 110005.

The matter will be heard by a bench headed by the Chief Justice D.N. Patel on August 19.
