PM Modi says farmers benefit govt’s utmost priority

PM Narendra Modi attended the Kisan Kalyan event in Raisen on Friday through video conferencing and addressed the farmers explaining the three farm laws against which thousands of farmers are protesting for the last three weeks are in favour of farmers and a step towards making their lives better. He said today Rs 16 thousand crores are being transferred into the bank accounts of 35 lakhs farmers of Madhya Pradesh. Several farmers have been given Kisan Credit Cards. Earlier, they were not available to all farmers. But the government changed rules to make Kisan Credit Cards available to all farmers across the country, he added.

He also said that Farm Laws have not been introduced overnight. Over the last 20-30 years, Centre and state governments have had detailed discussions on these reforms. Agriculture experts, economists & progressive farmers have been demanding reforms, he said.

PM Modi requested all political parties with folded hands to keep all the credit. He said he is giving credit to all old election manifestos. He said he just wants ease in the life of farmers, their progress and modernity in agriculture.

He emphasized that Political parties should stop misguiding farmers. It’s been 6-7 months since farm laws were implemented. But now suddenly, games are being played to plough one’s own political land through a web of lies. Those who’ve started this movement in the name of farmers, when they had a chance to run the government or become part of government, what they did back then, the country needs to remember. And today he wants to bring their deeds in front of countrymen & farmers, PM Modi said.

On MSP, he said if the party had to remove MSP, why would it implement the Swaminathan Commission report? The Swaminathan Commission report is the biggest proof of how ruthless these people can be. These people sat on Swaminathan Commission report recommendations for 8 long years. They ensured that their government doesn’t have to spend much on farmers, so they kept report under wraps, PM Modi said

Concluding his address, PM Modi said the government is serious about the MSP, that’s why it is declared every year before the sowing season. This makes it easy for farmers to make calculations. Farmers should not believe the lies being spread over the new farm laws. But still after all these, if farmers have any concern, the government will bow its head in front of them and will listen to what they have to say. Their benefit is the government’s utmost priority, he added.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the Central government wants to double the income of farmers and Mandis will not be closed at all. He alleged that the former CM of Madhya Pradesh Kamalnath had distributed fake loan waiver certificates and that the Congress is shedding crocodile tears.
