PM Says Sorry, Tough Times Call For Tough Decisions

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday apologised to the nation for the 21 days lockdown which he admitted has caused a lot of difficulty to a lot of people especially the poor. In his “Mann ki Baat” address today – his third address to the nation in less than 10 days he said that the steps the government took were harsh but these tough measures were needed to win this battle against coronavirus

The Prime Minister while asserting the importance of the lockdown apologised to the nation for any inconvenience being caused by it. “I want to apologise for the kind of decisions I have had to make…….I had no choice but to make these decisions to fight the coronavirus”, The Prime Minister said.

He also added that, “We should fight the illness before it takes toll on us………The whole humanity needs to come together and fight this crisis”. The Prime Minister also urged the people to follow the rules of the Lockdown saying, “You have to be courageous and draw a Lakshman Rekha. There are many who are breaking the rules of the lockdown. I request them not to do so, otherwise we cannot win the war.”

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the work being done by the all the nurses, doctors and paramedical staff involved in looking after the victims of coronavirus and thanked them for their undying support and dedication towards fighting this pandemic. He called them “foot soldiers” who are fighting the battle from the frontlines.

The Prime Minister today gave the message that in these testing times we need to be sensitive and understanding and while increasing social distancing we should reduce the emotional distancing.
