The Punjab and Haryana High Court recently dismissed a PIL filed against the appointment of a technical advisor in the Punjab State Agriculture Marketing Board (PSAMB) on contract basis on the ground that a vigilance inquiry regarding disproportionate assets is pending against him.
The division bench of Chief Justice Ravi Shanker Jha and Justice Arun Palli dismissed the PIL as having been rendered infructuous in the view of the affidavit filed on behalf of PSAMB, and the statement made by learned senior counsel appearing for the technical advisor.
The Board has filed an affidavit dated December 1, 2021, informing the Court that respondent No 4 being the technical advisor, had submitted a resignation, which had been accepted by the Government of Punjab on November 3, 2021. The same was taken on record.

Tajinder Singh, Senior Counsel appearing on behalf of respondent No, 4 affirms the fact and submitted that respondent No.4 had tendered his resignation as the terms and conditions of his appointment have not been finalized.
The resignation of respondent No 4 has been accepted by the Government of Punjab on November 3, 2021 and, therefore, he is no longer the technical advisor to the Board, Tajinder Singh added.
