Punjab and Haryana High Court disposes PIL highlighting lack of basic amenities and staff in Government schools

The Punjab and Haryana High Court disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL)  filed  highlighting the lack of basic amenities, shortage of teachers and special educators at Government School.


The  Public Interest Litigation has been filed by the petitioner (Social Jurist, A Civil Rights Group) , highlighting the lack of basic amenities, shortage of teachers and special educators at Government Primary Smart School, Haibowal, Tehsil Garhshankar, Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Haibowal, Tehsil Garhshankar, Government Primary Smart School, Seemah, Tehsil Garhshankar, Government Primary Smart School, Kalewal, Tehsil Garhshankar and Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Khurali (Khuralgarh Sahib), Tehsil Garhshankar, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab and to construct new state of the art buildings.  

Counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that they have moved a representation, after filing of the petition, before the competent authority .

Avinit Avasthi ,  Assistant Advocate General, Punjab submitted that the representation of the petitioner shall be looked into and the necessary steps, if so required, under law, would be taken up by the competent authority for proper functioning of the schools.

In view of the statement made by the State counsel, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Ravi Shanker Jha and Justice Arun Palli  disposed of the Petition.
