The Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud who was part of five-judges bench which delivered the Babri Masjid- Ram Janmabhoomi judgment in 2019, will hold regular court on the day of Ram Mandir Pran Prathishta ceremony at Ayodhya.
The Pran Prathishta ceremony which is going to take place on 22nd January will not be attended by him.
As a matter of fact,the other members of the Ayodhya bench including the Former CJIs Ranjan Gogoi, SA Bobde and Justice Abdul Nazeer (who currently is the Governor of Andhra Pradesh), will also not attend the ceremony owing to prior official commitments’.
However,Justice Ashok Bhushan,who is currently the chairperson of the NCLT is the only judge from the Ayodhya bench who would be attending the consecration ceremony.
The consecration ceremony would not be attended by Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta as he has to appear for the Central government before a seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court on January 23, in the matter pertaining to minority status of Aligarh Muslim University.
SG Mehta was on the VVIP guest list of Ram Mandir invite list,but had to step back due to the important hearing on Tuesday.
The Attorney General for India R Venkataramani will also not be able to take part in the ceremony due to pending official work.
