The Former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai has become the new chairperson of the Press Council of India.
Justice Ranjana is originally from the Bombay High Court, and later on served as a judge in Supreme Court between September 2011 and October 2014.
Justice Desai did her law from the Government Law College, Mumbai. She enrolled at the Bar in 1973 and practiced before the Bombay High Court.
In the year 1996,she was appointed as a judge of Bombay High Court later elevated to the Supreme Court on September 13, 2011.
The government of Uttarakhand has recently formed a 5-member panel headed by Justice Desai to examine the relevant personal laws in the State and to implement Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
