Recommendation for four additional judges of Bombay High Court to be made permanent: Supreme Court Collegium

he recommendation has been made by the Supreme Court Collegium for making four additional judges of the Bombay High Court as the permanent judges of that Court.

The resolution for the same was published on the Supreme Court’s website on February 15, 2023. 

The names of the  four additional judges who were recommended to be made permanent are:

1. Justice Rajesh Narayandas Laddha;

2. Justice Sanjay Ganpatrao Mehare;

3. Justice Govinda Ananda Sanap;

4. Justice Shivkumar Ganpatrao Dige.

The Bombay High Court collegium had, on December 15, 2022, recommended the above judges for appointment as permanent judges.

The resolution noted that the Chief Minister and the Governor of Maharashtra had also concurred with the proposal, the resolution noted.

The Supreme Court Collegium thereafter consulted the other prominent judges who are well versed with the affairs of the Bombay High Court and also with the Law Ministry’s Department of Justice.

The resolution stated that the Committee constituted in terms of the Resolution dated 26 October 2017 of the Supreme Court Collegium to assess the judgments of the above-named Additional Judges, has submitted its report.

The collegium also said that they have checked the merit and suitability of the above-named Additional Judges for their appointment as Permanent Judges after due considerations.
