15 retired judges, 77 retired bureaucrats and 25 retired armed forces officers have issued an open statement in outrage over the observations made by Supreme Court judges on suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
The Apex Court had come down heavily on Nupur Sharma last week while hearing her petition to transfer all FIRs registered against her to Delhi.
An open statement was issued by total 117 signatories including 15 retired judges, 77 retired bureaucrats and 25 retired armed forces officers, against the ‘unfortunate and unprecedented’ comments made by Justice Surya Kant and Justice J.B. Pardiwala in the matter.
While hearing Sharma’s plea, the Vacation Bench had said the suspended BJP leader had ignited emotions across the country and was single-handedly responsible for what is happening in the country.
The court had observed that the suspended BJP leader should apologise to the whole country.
The court further said that “She and her loose tongue has set the entire country on fire.” The bench had said that the remarks were the reason that the whole country has been under the spell of unfortunate communal incidents.
The bench said that people like these are not religious and don’t even have respect for other religions as well.
The bench said that remarks were made for cheap publicity or for political agenda or some other nefarious activities .
