SCBA’s letter to SC for the resumption of proximity card for using the Library

New Delhi (ILNS): The Supreme Court Bar Association has written to the Secretary-General, Supreme Court of India requesting resumption of the Proximity Card for using Libraries stating that “the members of the Bar are struggling with the facilities which they use to get earlier.”

The letter by Rohit Pandey, Acting Hony. Secretary of SCBA stated that the letter is being sent as they have received

“many requests for the access to Libraries especially the ‘Library-1’ as it has a variety of books and study/ research materials which are highly helpful in the research work to the lawyers in preparing their respective matters.”

The letter is written in view of the present scenario of relaxations by the Government in the lockdown, etc. the government functionaries and other institutes are working full-fledged. The letter further pointed out that the Government has initiated the Unlock-5 phase under which cinemas, theatres, multiplexes, etc. have been opened.

“This step would be a great relief for lawyers and their clients and at the same time it would safeguard the dispense of justice,”

the letter stated.
