A Delhi Court extended the judicial custody of 14 accused in the Seelampur violence case till January 16. Two of the accused, Saji Ali and Daniyal, in the case, were granted interim bail on medical grounds on Tuesday, subject to furnishing a bail bond of Rs 20,000 with a surety of the same amount.
The court had asked both of them to get themselves medically examined and treated at Delhi’s Ram Manohar Hospital.
Delhi Police had arrested 16 people in connection with the violence and arson during the anti-Citizenship Act protests in Seelampur. Nearly 20 vehicles and other public properties were reportedly vandalized when protesters turned violent. A police picket was also burnt.
The Court also noted that the video footages the police produced did not show that the accused persons pelted stones or were in any manner involved in arson and destruction of property.
Both Sajid and Daniyal were arrested from the spot for attempting to murder, rioting, unlawful assembly, etc.
