The Union government’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports plans to move a legislation to enforce dope-free sporting activity in the country. To this end, it plans to move a legislation that would criminalise sports doping in India.

As a first step towards this endeavour, the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA), the national body that conforms to the standards and guidelines of the World Anti Doping Agency,  has called a consultation meeting, “for drafting Anti-Doping Legislation: Doping as a Criminal Offence” at Vigyan Bhavan Annexe, New Delhi on April 27.

The meeting will be attended by different stakeholders and experts from different fields, such as Pradeep Rai, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court, who is also Vice-Chairman, The Anti-Doping Appeal Panel.
