New Delhi (ILNS): The Supreme Court today adjourned a plea by Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief of Republic Media Network, challenging the breach of privilege motion against him by the Maharashtra Assembly and Legislative Council.
The matter was adjourned when Senior Counsel Harish Salve, appearing for Goswami, submitted before the bench comprising Chief Justices SA Bobde and Justices A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian that notice was served to the respondents but it has been refused.
The bench thereafter asked Salve to file an affidavit stating the same.
In the course of hearing the CJI also inquired whether the privileges committee had taken any action. The bench suggested that the action ought to be taken by the Privileges committee.

The motion was moved against Goswami by Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik, accusing Goswami of using derogatory language against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and NCP president Sharad Pawar in relation to alleged inaction by the state government in the case pertaining to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The matter has been adjourned for two weeks.
