The Supreme Court Collegium has approves 17 names for appointment as judges in High Courts of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, and has recommended the elevation of Justice M.N. Bhandari as the Madras High Court Chief Justice.
The Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana and comprising senior-most judges Justices U.U. Lalit and A.M. Khanwilkar, held deliberations on December 14, 2021 and January 29, 2022, and recommended 17 names for appointment as judges in Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa high courts.
The Collegium has approved the proposal for the elevation of 7 advocates – Konakanti Sreenivasa Reddy, Srinivasa Reddy, Gannamaneni Ramakrishna Prasad, Venkateswarlu Nimmagadda, Tarlada Rajasekhar Rao, Satti Subba Reddy, Ravi Cheemalapati and Vaddiboyana Sujatha as judges in the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
The Collegium has also recommended the elevation of Madras High Court judge Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari as the its Chief Justice. Justice Bhandari, whose parent high court is the Rajasthan HC, has been serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
Advocates V. Narasingh, Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Biraja Prasanna Satapathy, Raman Murahari and M.S. Raman have been approved by the Collegium as judges in the Orissa High Court. The Orissa High Court is also set to get four more judges if the collegium’s recommendation is accepted by the Centre.
The Collegium has also approved the proposal for elevation of three advocates Maninder Singh Bhatti, Dwarka Dhish Bansal and Milind Ramesh Phadke and three judicial officers Amar Nath Kesharwani, Prakash Chandra Gupta and Dinesh Kumar Paliwal as Judges in the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
