The Supreme Court e-committee has released its August 2022 newsletter. The newsletter outlined several major developments and measures taken at all district courts of Chhattisgarh, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, and the High Court of Kerala, among others.

The e-Committee’s August 2022 newsletter said all district courts of Chhattisgarh and Tripura saw the video conferencing hearing for undertrial prisoners. The hearing was carried out for 491 cases in Chhattisgarh and video conferencing rooms were established for undertrial prisoners under the e-Courts project that gave an opportunity for undertrial prisoners to attend the hearings even when they were not physically present in the court, which also protected their fundamental rights.
The Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy, along with the Computerisation Committee, carried out a day-long online refresher training programme for Master Trainer Advocated and Advocate Clerks on e-Courts Services and application. Participants were trained in e-filing e-payment, e-Courts mobile application, Making Accessible PDFs, and other Electronic Case Management Tools, the e-Committee newsletter said.
The Tripura High Court directed the Trial Courts of its District Judiciary to conduct video conferencing trials of the Under Trial Prisoners/remand proceedings, especially for those under high-risk groups. The High Court also introduced online payment of Court fees, fines, and penalties at https://pay.ecourts.gov.in/epay/
The e-Committee’s August 2022 newsletter said the Karnataka High Court introduced an Online Digital Case Diary web portal to collect the Advocates’ contact details including mobile number, email ID, WhatsApp number, office address, and others to reduce the communication gap between the Court and government departments.
The Kerala High Court transformed five of its benches into paperless courts with all-in-one touchscreen personal computers which can display case files automatically. The High Court also introduced the Nomination Dashboard which helped the in-house IT team to develop the ‘NJA Programme Module’ for the Chief Justice for the establishment of Section (A-Section) of the Court, said the newsletter.
The District And Session Courts in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh inaugurated an online e-Court Service for online fee payment, e-filling, certified copy, and other services like case status, handling general queries, and free legal services, the e-Committee’s August 2022 newsletter said.
The State Judicial Academy conducted the training programme on Computerisation Sensitisation and Awareness Programme under the e-courts project for New Judicial Master Trainer Under in Jabalpur.
