The Supreme Court on Thursday has asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to consider providing original OMR sheets to petitioner students who had appeared in NEET if a representation is made for the same.
A bench headed by Justice L. Nageswara Rao has asked the petitioner students to approach the High Court in case the discrepancies persist. A total of 19 NEET students had approached the Apex Court challenging an NTA circular that mandated an amount of Rs 1,000 to be charged per question for reassessment.
According to the petitioners, this would require them to pay Rs 1.8 lakh for a reassessment of 180 questions, and the process of challenging the answersheets and OMRs is therefore manifestly arbitrary and unjust other than the charge for reassessment, the petitioners also raised concern regarding the discrepancies in the NEET OMR sheet which was filled with wrong roll numbers, blanks pages, etc.
