Activist Madhu Kishwar on Friday (September 15) got a stay on a J&K court’s non-bailable warrant in relation to a defamation suit filed by a Kashmir newspaper editor for a few tweets on Kashmir.
Kishwar’s counsel, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, had asked for a stay which the top court granted. It will hear the case again on September 22.
Kishwar had first approached the Delhi High Court on September 11 asking for a stay on the warrant. However, the Delhi High Court had refused to grant any stay, forcing the activist to approach the apex court.
