A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against upcoming movie ‘Thank God’ for derogatory portrayal of Lord Chitragupta.
Filed by an organisation named ‘Shri Chitragupta Welfare Trust,’ the petition contended that this would hurt the sentiments of crores of Kayastha people around the world, who worship Lord Chitragupta.
The petitioner has made the Central Board of Film Certification, Director of the movie Inder Kumar, it’s Producer Bhushan Kumar and actor Ajay Devgan as parties to the plea.
Ajay Devgan has played the role of Chitragupta in the flick, which also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Rakulpreet Singh.

As per the petition, after watching the trailer, the organisation wrote a letter to the producer, requesting to remove the same from internet. It also demanded not to release the film. However, they were yet to get a reply.
The organisation further said that the movie should not have got a clearance from the Censor Board.
Earlier, a case had been registered against Indra Kumar and actors of Thank God in a Jaunpur court for ‘mocking’ religion and ‘hurting the religious sentiments of people.
Madhya Pradesh Education Minister Vishwas Sarang has also written a letter to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, demanding a ban on the release of the movie.
